Barcelona has apparently been offered the opportunity to sign Chelsea attacker Christopher Nkunku.
The French international spent over 18 months with Chelsea after signing a £52 million deal from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023.
Nkunku had a rough debut season in the Premier League, with injuries limiting him to only 11 top-flight games during the 2023-24 season.
The 27-year-old’s injury woes have improved dramatically in his second season with the West London club, allowing him to score 12 goals in 25 competitive outings.
While those figures are quite outstanding, Nkunku will be upset because he has virtually been used as a backup option by Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca.
Barcelona offered a chance to sign Nkunku.
Nkunku has only made two Premier League starts, compared to five in the Conference League, while Maresca rotates his team.
With Nkunku struggling to get into Maresca’s first-choice XI, it is possible that he would seek a move away from Stamford Bridge in order to secure regular starts elsewhere.
According to a recent rumor, Paris Saint-Germain is interested in Nkunku, as are Napoli, Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, and his old club Leipzig.
According to Sport, Nkunku’s agent, Pini Zahavi, has given Barcelona the option to recruit the Chelsea attacker in the new year.
The article suggests that Nkunku is keen to leave Chelsea either in the January window or at the end of the current season.

Barcelona is reported to be looking for a new winger and striker to bolster their offensive options.
Nkunku might be an asset to the Catalan giants, having demonstrated his ability to play out wide, as a second striker, and as a centre forward.
However, given their current financial circumstances, Hansi Flick’s team is unlikely to enter the January transfer market.
The club is now prioritizing the resolution of the Dani Olmo registration issue over the recruitment of new players.
Having said that, they could consider signing Nkunku in the summer, albeit they may aim to do so on a loan rather than a permanent basis.
