Barcelona Official Meets Laporta To Discuss About Hansi Flick Meeting In London

According to Carlos Monfort, Barcelona sporting director, Deco, met with club president Joan Laporta after his trip to London, where he met Hansi Flick, who is widely regarded as Xavi’s likely successor.

Deco recounted the emotions he felt after meeting Flick in London during their lengthy conversation yesterday afternoon.

It is worth noting that the Barcelona board has been silent since last Wednesday. Laporta’s annoyance was obvious throughout the news conference that altered Xavi’s future.

The recurrent silence from Laporta and Deco says volumes, since the former, outraged, quickly departed for Almeria, while Deco, missing for personal reasons, was also not present.

Barcelona have signed Flick?

It is believed that Barcelona’s sporting management successfully signed Flick on a two-year contract, putting him the clear frontrunner to lead the club from June 30 onwards.

Flick’s vision and willingness to make long-term commitments connected with the organization. The stage is prepared for Flick’s entrance pending Xavi’s departure, which is expected soon unless something unexpected happens.

Deco, anticipating Xavi’s departure, accelerated preparations for potential replacements, and his approach included internal discussions, with Rafa Marquez emerging as a major contender, as well as foreign explorations that resulted in Flick’s candidature.

Flick was always a Barcelona favourite.

Flick’s candidacy gathered traction over time, transitioning from a fringe candidate in February to Laporta’s preferred pick amid season-ending setbacks.

A critical meeting in London last Wednesday finalized the agreement, with Barcelona’s sports officials, Flick, and his agent, Pini Zahavi, finalizing the arrangements.

The agreement was near-complete, spanning contract length — Flick would serve until the end of Laporta’s term, with provisions for an extension.

Understanding Barcelona’s financial constraints, Flick agreed to a modest base salary with bonuses tied to on-field success. Embracing the challenge, he was drawn to the club’s ambition.
