Barcelona Open To Two Sales In January Window Following Transfer U-Turn

Barcelona will change their transfer strategy in the January transfer window following the showdown talks between Sporting Director Deco and centre-back Ronald Araujo. With the Uruguayan believed to be on his way to staying at Barcelona, this will have an impact on the rest of the group.

According to Sport, both Eric Garcia and Andreas Christensen will be available for a move in January. Barcelona will not try to force either player out, but they do intend to reinforce in attack coming January, and with neither Garcia nor Christensen expected to play much in the second half of the season, Barcelona may look to take advantage of that.

Barcelona would be open to losing Frenkie de Jong or Ansu Fati, but neither has shown any interest in returning Garcia after a successful loan spell, and there have been recent contacts with Manchester United regarding Andreas Christensen. According to the Catalan club, Barcelona needs to bring in a minimum of €6.5 million in order to potentially sign Marcus Rashford on loan from United, which is Hansi Flick’s preferred option to strengthen his frontline.

Garcia has been used little in Barcelona’s backline this season, but Flick has utilized him as a midfield substitute. Before it appeared that Araujo may leave, Barcelona had reportedly agreed a €10 million agreement with Girona for the Catalan defender. Christensen, on the other hand, could return to action this weekend, according to Flick, but has been out since the second game of the season due to injury.
