Barcelona president Joan Laporta has revealed the club’s intentions to re-sign Lionel Messi in the summer transfer window and they will do everything they can to bring him back to Camp Nou.
The Catalan giants clinched La Liga title for the 2022-23 season with a 4-2 win over Espanyol on Sunday night.
Following the Barcelona derby, Laporta acknowledged that Lionel Messi is a goal for the club, with the Argentina international’s contract at Paris Saint-Germain set to expire at the end of June.
“We will do everything we can to bring Leo Messi back to Barcelona”, Laporta said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

However, Laporta confirmed that the newly crowned La Liga champions intend to improve all outfield positions in the upcoming market.
Along with Messi, Manchester City’s Ilkay Gundogan has been linked with a move to Camp Nou, also ex-Barcelona forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is due to leave Chelsea.
Laporta has also discussed Xavi’s future, with the manager’s current contract set to expire in June.

Since his return to Camp Nou as head coach, the 43-year-old has won two titles, including the Spanish Super Cup earlier this year.
“We want this to be the start of more titles and to bring joy back to Barcelona fans,” Laporta added. “The players, Xavi, the coaching staff and in general the whole club have done an extraordinary job.
“We agreed to talk about it (Xavi’s contract) at the end of the season. I understand that there will be no problem because Xavi is a club man.
“Xavi was clear that he wanted to be the coach of Barca. Maybe more than me. It has a lot of points in common from [Pep] Guardiola’s era.”
