Barcelona Reject £21M Bid For Roque

Everton have reportedly seen their £21 million bid for Vitor Roque rejected by Barcelona.

The 19-year-old arrived in Spain in January 2024 and has since experienced a turbulent year. He is not registered for the 2024/25 season due to Barcelona’s continuous financial issues, and he may leave this summer.

After joining from Athletico-PR, former manager Xavi gave him just two league starts, both of which were in victories for Barcelona. Everton have moved since their interest was revealed yesterday.

His best moments came in the first few games of his arrival; he netted the winner against Osasuna at the Spotify Nou Camp before scoring again in the following game against Alaves in a 3-1 victory.

However, the goals dried up and he totalled just 16 appearances, failing to get a minute off the bench in any of Barca’s Champions League knockout ties against Napoli or Paris Saint-Germain.

According to Liverpool World, one of Europe’s most reliable reporters, Florian Plettenberg took to X to reveal that Everton had made progress toward the forward. Putting in a bid that the Spanish strongholds promptly turned down.

He posted: “FC Everton still investigating a deal to sign Vitor Roque… with a €3m add-on to the initial €25m offer.”

Barcelona promptly turned you down because they want €30–35 million. Recall that Everton and Deco, Barca’s sporting director are in negotiations for the 19-year-old striker with his contract expiring in 2031.

Everton will carry on with negotiations, but as the Catalan club have a contract with the player through 2031, they will need to up their offer.
