Barcelona Retain Strong Interest In Luis Diaz Of Liverpool

Barcelona has long been associated with the Colombian striker. In fact, earlier this year, there were rumors that they were pursuing him, reports Barca Universal

But as Moises Llorens disclosed, the two parties’ history dates all the way back to the winter transfer window of 2021/22.

Barcelona was on the verge of acquiring Diaz at the moment, particularly since Xavi wanted a significant makeover in his first few months there.

Everything appeared to be set in stone once the club and the player reached an agreement.

However, the team decided at the last minute to go in a different way and signed Ferran Torres instead of Diaz. It goes without saying that the Spaniard has not had the desired impact at the club.

The Nico Williams drama has been extremely taxing for the Barcelona offices and it does not help that the star of Athletic Club does not seem to be in the slightest bit interested in forcing a move.

The Catalans have chosen to explore other possibilities because they don’t have much time left on the transfer market.

Luis Diaz, a star for Liverpool, is one of the many names on Joan Laporta’s table that entices the administration and management.

Now that Nico is all but certain to miss out, Barcelona view Diaz as a strong contender once more but with greater determination this time.

The Spanish journalist goes on to say that while the Colombian would be the greatest choice should the deal go through, his arrival now looks tricky.

The 27-year-old attacker for Liverpool made 37 league games last season, including 32 starts, while playing as a left winger. He scored eight goals, provided five assists, and created five excellent opportunities throughout that time.
