BARCELONA ROBBED? Former Referee Points Out Errors In UCL Clash

Last night’s UEFA Champions League match between Inter Milan and Barcelona was marred by controversy owing to various questionable decisions made by the referee and VAR throughout the game.

The Nerazzurri ultimately won the game 1-0. This left Barça frustrated and upset with some of the mistakes the match officials made at the Giuseppe Meazza.

After the match, former La Liga match official Eduardo Iturralde discussed the three key errors made by referee Slavko Vincic and his crew during Inter Milan vs. Barcelona on Cadena SER’s El Larguero program.

According to the former referee, the match officials made a serious mistake on Tuesday night when they failed to award Barcelona a penalty for a handball by Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries.

To Barcelona’s shock and dismay, neither the referee nor the VAR regarded the handball by the Dutch defender to be an offense deserving of a penalty despite it being as obvious as day.

The referee was not even prompted to check the pitchside monitor, in contrast to some other occasions early in the game.

Iturralde added that Barça were denied yet another penalty when star striker Robert Lewandowski was pushed down to the ground in the Inter Milan box by one of the hosts’ defenders.

The matter was not given a second thought by the referee and was not looked at by the VAR either.

Iturralde claims that the referees’ failure to send out Inter’s goal scorer Hakan Calhanoglu on Tuesday night was another grave error.

The Turkish playmaker dove in boots high and brought down Sergio Busquets with a rash challenge that at least warranted a closer look.

However, the referee was content to only issue a yellow card, and the VAR did not step in.
