Barcelona Set For Talks With Lewandowski Over Future

Barcelona are reportedly set for a showdown talk with Robert Lewandowski regarding his future at the club.

After the January transfer window ends, Barcelona will talk about the Polish striker’s future in February, according to Sport as cited by Football Espana.

Lewandowski contract is set to be extended for a fourth year if he features in at least 45 minutes of play in half of their games this season. The Blaugrana will talk about his future with him after he reaches that milestone in February.

The report continues by saying that some Barcelona board members think it’s time to let him go next summer.

Nonetheless, manager Hansi Flick and Sporting Director Deco are counting on him for next summer since they think his performances have been at the highest level.

But if his recent drop persists, the discussion will be opened, and most importantly, they think he would be prepared to depart if the club were to be upfront and honest with him. But as things stand, he intends to stay.

With 16 goals in his last 17 games, Lewandowski is currently the clear leader of Pichichi, five goals ahead of his nearest rivals. That form has sagged in recent weeks, and Flick seems to be worried about his own condition as well.

With the exception of their opening match against RCD Mallorca, where he did not play at all for the first time this season, Lewandowski has been substituted out of every game in December.
