Barcelona is set to announce the signing of Athletico Paranaense’s teenage attacker Vitor Roque, according to sources.
The Catalan giants completed a €40 million agreement for the 18-year-old, who made his senior international debut for Brazil in March, but he will not come at Camp Nou until 2024.
Athletico were said to be unwilling to wait until next year, instead pushing Barcelona to complete the trade this summer. 90min understands that option is still open if last season’s La Liga champions can generate funds through player sales, but the move will go as planned.
Roque has agreed a contract until 2028 and is scheduled to link up with Barcelona in January, which could provide Xavi with some much needed firepower for the second half of next season.

Barcelona expects to have cleared space on their salary bill by then, with a handful of players set to be released this summer as president Joan Laporta attempts to balance the club’s sensitive finances.
“I’m hoping he’ll join me in Barcelona.” We’re discussing a high-level football player. “He’d help Barcelona a lot,” Roque’s Brazil international teammate Raphinha recently stated of the winger, who, unfortunately, may be one of the players.
Raphinha and Ferran Torres both want to stay at Barcelona in the long run, but insiders have told 90min that the club is in no position to turn down bids if they come in. Ansu Fati is in a similar scenario, while Ousmane Dembele, whom Xavi regards as ‘untouchable,’ may also have his future scrutinized by Paris Saint-Germain.
Roque, on the other hand, has already helped Brazil win the South American Under-20 Championship and has been selected to the Copa Libertadores Team of the Tournament in 2022.
