Barcelona Spending Limit Increases In New La Liga Report

Following the economic levers activated by the club over the summer, La Liga spending limit for Barcelona has grown by almost €800m. La Liga revealed its 20 clubs’ spending limits for the 2022-23 season on Friday.

Barca’s financial belt has been loosened significantly compared to the previous campaign as a result of a host of economic levers in recent months.

Barcelona’s previous salary cap was -€144 million, but it has since increased to €656 million. They have the second-most generous spending caps in the league, only behind Real Madrid.

President Joan Laporta constantly mentioned ‘economic levers’ that would boost the club’s revival over the summer. These included selling a sizable chunk of Barca Studios and giving up 25% of their television rights for the following 25 years.

These enabled Barcelona spend big in the transfer market, bringing in the likes of Lewandowski, Raphinha, Kounde amongst others. They were also able to renew contracts of important members of the squad.

Laporta’s master plan seems to have worked with this announcement from La Liga president, Tebas.

On Saturday, Barcelona will play host to Cadiz, with recent additions, Hector Bellerin and Marcos Alonso expected to make their debuts.
