Barcelona goalkeeper, Inaki Pena is reportedly unhappy with manager Hansi Flick with his limited action on the pitch in the last few games.
Flick has already decided on the goalkeeping position. Many were taken aback by the German coach’s continued belief in Pena after Szczesny was first brought in as an emergency signing, and his subsequent reversal on the issue has shocked even more.
Following the 34-year-old’s arrival, Pena continued between the sticks in the starting lineup.
The German tactician stated in public that the Valencian goalkeeper had not given them any reason to switch. And that unless he made a mistake, everything would stay the same.

He had also assured Pena that he would maintain his position if he keep up his form.
After giving Szczesny his debut in the Copa del Rey and Spanish Supercup, the 34-year-old maintained his spot in the Champions League and La Liga against Benfica and Valencia respectively.
“We haven’t given up yet on Tek [Szczesny] yet, he’s important. I understand for Inaki Pena the situation is not the best, but we decided to start Szczesny tonight after an internal meeting,” Flick told Diario AS as cited by Football Espana.
According to the same outlet, Flick has not discussed the decision with Pena, who is upset about it. As a result, he might reevaluate his future with the team and would be the third choice when Marc-Andre ter Stegen returns.
Despite goalkeeping coach Jose Ramon de la Fuente’s support for keeping Pena in goal, Flick made the decision because he values Szczesny’s expertise in a young squad.
