Barcelona have reportedly been informed that Ronald Araujo will leave the club if his demands are not met before the start of the 2024/25 season.
After the Uruguayan signed a club-friendly contract in 2022, the Catalan club are believed to have promised him a significant pay boost. Now, they are in a situation where they are unable or unwilling to hand him the contract he was hoping for.
Barcelona need to find a means to secure a new contract for him or sell him soon, as he has two years remaining on his current one.
The 25-year-old will have one year left on his contract next summer, and his worth will drop substantially. Araujo is injured until the end of the transfer season.
Earlier in the year, Sporting Director Deco had planned to look for a sale. At the time, both Manchester United and Bayern Munich were interested. However, both parties have since discontinued their interest.
According to Sport, this puts Barca in a bit of a bind. It is stated that Araujo’s agent’s lack of “friendliness” with the club works against both him and, most likely, them as well.

However, if the Laliga giants do not agree to his wage demands, Araujo intends to run down his contract, leave the club for free in 2026, and there will be no sale.
According to the Catalan daily as reported by Football Espana, Araujo would only be willing to accept a contract if it would match his earning potential in the Premier League.
