Barcelona forward, Robert Lewandowski had a discussion on when he plans to retire from football. The Polish striker recently had an interview with Club del Deportista where he revealed his retirement plans.
The 34-year-old enjoyed early success when he signed with the Catalans in the summer of 2022. He is currently struggling for form in his second season. Although he is fifth in the La Liga top scorer rankings.
Despite this, ‘Lewa’ still believes he is destined for greatness, especially with 18-year-old Vitor Roque soon to join Barca.
What Did Lewandowski Say About His Retirement Plans?
“I don’t think about what I’ve already won or what I’ve already done. I still have that feeling and that passion inside me,” Lewandowski said as reported by Forbes.
“I think I can still play football for three or four years, because physically I feel very good.”
Moreover, even though the veteran has worked under several elite coaches, including Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp, he doesn’t see himself taking over the dugout one day.
“When I think about my career path and the managers I’ve met, it’s incredible. I don’t know how many players can say they’ve had such big names [manage them].
“I feel lucky because I’ve learned so much and of course when I watch football, I see it in different ways. It will be hard to live without being a football player after my career.
“But to be a coach, I know it’s a very difficult job. I’m not sure I’m going to be ready because you have to be 100% focused on football,” Lewandowski admitted.
