Barcelona have reportedly halted their search for manager three months after Xavi Hernandez confirmed he would be leaving the club at the end of the season.
Although Xavi has stated that he will leave at the end of the campaign. Some have changed their minds about whether or not he should stay because of Barca’s recent success.
Before making his announcement in late January, it appeared as though the 44-year-old was going to be fired. But it was evident from his statement that he intended to finish the season.
Xavi has been asked several times in the past few weeks if he would change his mind. And according to some reports, he might decide to rescind his decision provided certain requirements are satisfied.
According to Sport as reported by Football Espana, Deco, the sporting director in Barcelona, has completed all the necessary research and compiled a shortlist of three to four managers who meet the requirements of the position.
Interviews with the candidates are the only tasks left before making a choice. However, this next phase won’t happen until at least following the Champions League quarterfinal clash with Paris Saint-Germain. There’s hope that the Blaugrana can have a successful season finale.

If Barcelona make it to the Champions League semifinals for the first time in five years, given their financial difficulties and the fact that Xavi continues to be a coach who deflects criticism from President Joan Laporta, it would be reasonable for them to reconsider.
However, given that Xavi appears to have had enough of the media and the Barcelona administration, it would be shocking if he continues his managerial duties next season at the club.
