Barcelona is considered one of the favourites to recruit Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah, and their negotiations with Ronald Araujo will not stand in the way.
The Uruguayan’s contract expires in 2026, and the Blaugrana hope to sign him to a new agreement before the season ends.
If they fail to do so, Barcelona will most likely be forced to contemplate selling. Deco, Barcelona’s sporting director, sees Araujo as one of their top possibilities alongside Tah next season, assuming a transfer can be completed. If all goes as planned for Deco, the Germany international will join Araujo, Pau Cubarsi, and Inigo Martinez in the squad for next season. Tah may be replacing an exiting Araujo, as previously suggested.

Eric Garcia and Andreas Christensen, on the other hand, will be invited to go if Tah and Araujo’s contracts are agreed upon. Sport claims that a deal with Tah is’very close’ and has the support of manager Hansi Flick. He is willing to make financial concessions and accept a lower offer than he received from Bayern Munich.
Bayern has been after Tah since the summer, while Real Madrid has recently inquired about his availability. He is represented by Pini Zahavi, however, and Barcelona President Joan Laporta’s familiarity with him appears to have made the Catalan giants favourites to sign him. The same agency secured an agreement between Bayern and Barcelona for Robert Lewandowski.
