Xavi Hernandez made the announcement on January 27 that he would be leaving Barcelona at the end of the current campaign.
According to Barca News, The 44-year-old legend of the club and former midfielder believed that his departure would be best for all parties involved and that the team needed a change in dynamics.
Now that Xavi’s replacement has been identified, club president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco are hard at work finding the new manager.
According to SPORT, Barcelona plans to appoint a “top” manager to succeed Xavi when the current campaign ends.
Club president Laporta will have the last word in the selection of the final shortlist, which will be screened by Deco.
Many names have been connected to the Barça position, but the process for choosing the best applicant is still very clear: the goal is to hire a world-class coach with extensive international experience.
Without a doubt, Laporta’s greatest fantasy is Jurgen Klopp, who is departing Liverpool and was in contact with the current board of directors two years prior but failed to come to an agreement. But things get complicated because of money and the German’s wish to take a sabbatical.
Another name on the agenda is Hansi Flick, though as of right now, nothing has been said about him.

Thiago Motta, the current head coach of Bologna and a former midfielder, has been strongly linked to the situation, but he is currently out of contention. Michel, the manager of Girona, is similarly inexperienced at the highest level.
Antonio Conte is rumored to have been offered to the team, but Barça’s philosophy differs from the Italian’s, so the offer was not taken into consideration.
According to the report, Barcelona may end up turning to Barça Atletico manager Rafa Marquez if they are unable to find a “top” manager to replace Xavi. The former defender from Mexico has made no secret of his desire to lead the first team.
Furthermore, it doesn’t seem likely that the Mexican will wait for his opportunity for another year in the reserve squad.
Barcelona must make plans for the summer, so the final decision won’t be postponed. The new coach will undoubtedly need to make a significant roster overhaul unless it ends up being Rafa Marquez.
