Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has discussed the possibility of the club signing Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho, stating that the best players are always welcome at the Nou Camp.
Coutinho has been hugely impressive this season and has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona.
Pique revealed that he isn’t sure whether a deal will come to fruition, but indicated that he would be pleased if the club were able to sign the Brazilian.
When asked about Barcelona’s interest in Coutinho during a Facebook Live on Friday, Pique said: “That’s Robert Fernandez’s area, as sporting director, but obviously if the best players come we received them with our arms open.
“But it’s other people who are in charge of the needs of the team.”
A player who is capable of unlocking defences with excellent through balls, Coutinho has created 34 chances in the Premier League this season, while he has an average pass accuracy of 84%.
Coutinho has recently returned from an injury lay-off and Liverpool will hope that the 24-year-old, who can play as an attacking midfielder or a winger, will be able to play a major part in the club’s push for honours in the second half of the campaign.
