Barcelona ‘Willing To Profit Off Franck Kessie In January’

Barcelona are reportedly willing to sell off Franck Kessie during the January transfer window.

When the midfielder became available as a free agent at the end of 2021-22, Barcelona won the tightly contested battle for his signature.

This is despite the delay created by the Catalan giants’ need to bolster their financial position before registering players with La Liga.

Although the 25-year-old joined at Camp Nou with the expectation of receiving regular starts, he has only made five appearances in Spain’s top flight and the Champions League.

Despite eight substitute appearances, the former AC Milan player has only played 487 minutes for Barcelona this season.

Being merely a few months into a four-year deal, there was little expectation that the two parties would split up as soon as January.

However, according to AS, Barcelona would consider bids for the player during the next two months.

Since Kessie signed on a free transfer, club officials are thought to be aware of the chance to substantially improve their financial fair play status.

According to the report, any deal would not have to be amortized, allowing Barcelona to immediately enhance their books following their summer spend.

Aston Villa are reported to be among the Premier League clubs keeping an eye on the situation, although no formal bid for Kessie has been received from any club.

Inter Milan were also linked with a player who helped rivals AC Milan win the Serie A title last season earlier this week.

Any exit for Kessie would also help Barcelona finalize any contract negotiations with younger players, including full-back Alex Balde, who is expected to sign a five-year deal.
