FC Barcelona secured another victory on the road when they traveled to the Canary Islands for their final encounter against Las Palmas. The three points earned on this trip allowed the Blaugranes to remain at the head of the league table despite their rivals, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid, both winning their games this week.
However, as has been the case with other recent La Liga games, this one had its share of controversy. For example, Eric Garcia noted a peculiar occurrence involving the use of VAR, while Marc Casado showed how Las Palmas gained an unfair edge.

Another contentious moment in this game was a rough tackle on Lamine Yamal by Alex Munoz, who stomped his foot, but the referee, Cordero Vega, did not call a foul.
According to Diario AS, the teenage winger resorted to social media after the game to express his displeasure with the referee’s judgment and the severity of the tackle that he had to endure with no ramifications for the attacker.
In a video posted by the Barcelona winger, one can see his sock drenched in blood. The footage was accompanied by a brief text reading “It’s not a foul!” as well as two laughing emoticons and another of a person concealing his face with his palm.
Lamine Yamal has received a significant number of fouls this season, averaging two per game. Some of these infractions have been especially harsh, like as the one he received in the game against Leganes, which forced him to miss several weeks.
Hopefully, such fouls will be called in the coming few weeks to ensure the aggressors are more thoughtful while making such harsh tackles and to avoid missing the Barcelona winger for another couple of games.
