Barcelona faces a critical hurdle today as it attempts to sign Dani Olmo and Pau Victor in La Liga. Despite missing the official deadline, Barcelona remains optimistic about resolving the situation.
Now, according to sources from AS, the club aims to explain that the delay was caused by banking troubles, which stopped them from completing the necessary payments on time.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has one more opportunity to register the two players before the Copa del Rey encounter against Barbastro.
The team hopes to persuade La Liga to reinstate the 1:1 rule, allowing them to recruit players as usual.
Barcelona’s argument supporting the case
To buttress their case, Barcelona intends to demonstrate that monies from the sale of VIP tickets at Camp Nou, worth between €100 million and €120 million, have already been placed into the club’s account.
The club alleges that by December 31, the funds had been secured but could not be transferred to the bank due to banking processes.

Because the window closed on December 31, and banks do not process transactions from the afternoon of the 31st until the 2nd of January, Barcelona was unable to make the deposit until January 3. The club claimed that this delay was the primary reason they missed the deadline.
If La Liga and the Federation continue to obstruct the players’ registration, Barcelona is ready to take legal action.
The club has already filed for preventative measures, claiming that the registration requirement does not apply in this case owing to “force majeure.”
Barcelona claims that, despite having sold the VIP seats and received the €120 million from the buyer, they were unable to complete the necessary formalities since the timing coincided with the end of the year.
