Bartlett pens Somerset extension

Somerset have handed highly-rated batsman George Bartlett a contract extension until the end of the 2022 campaign. The 21-year-old, who worked his way through the club’s academy ranks and signed an initial contract in January, helped Somerset win the One-Day Cup title at Lord’s. Bartlett also scored 718 runs in the County Championship, averaging 31.22, and is delighted to commit his longer term future to the County Ground outfit. “I’m really looking forward to the next three seasons with this squad because the club is in a really exciting place at the moment,” he said. Somerset director of cricket Andy Hurry told the club website: “We look forward to helping George fulfil his potential and move closer to winning international recognition over the next few years.”
