Chelsea forward Michy Batshuayi has rubbished the idea that he was laughing at the expense of team-mate Alvaro Morata during Sunday’s Community Shield.
Morata put a spot-kick wide during the shoot-out defeat to Arsenal at Wembley and footage subsequently emerged which showed Batshuayi laughing at something behind the Spain international’s back.
Batshuayi began the game before being replaced by expensive new signing Morata and, with the pair apparently rivals for a starting berth in the Premier League starting XI, it was suggested on social media that the Belgian enjoyed his team-mate’s spot-kick woes.
However, Batshuayi wrote on his Twitter feed: “Wow lol some people really believe I laughed at my teammate and/or us losing?
“Sorry to disappoint but I wasn’t.”
The striker then posted a photo of himself and Victor Moses celebrating the latter’s opener at the weekend, and added: “I’m enjoying every goal for us scored by anyone in the team.
“That’s the only thing you have to know. Have a blessed day.”

The 23-year-old joined the Blues from Marseille last summer but had a fairly quiet first season at Stamford Bridge, while Diego Costa did a capable job of leading the line.
However, Batshuayi did score the goal which clinched the title, coming off the bench to score the winner at West Brom, and he finished the campaign with five Premier League goals in just 236 minutes on the pitch.
