Michy Batshuayi has revealed at his Chelsea unveiling that he gets on really well with the club’s winger Eden Hazard.
After much speculation Batshuayi was officially confirmed as a Chelsea player on Sunday, with the club announcing he had signed a five-year contract with the team and Squawka understands the fee was £33 million.
During his first interview with the club’s official website Batshuayi was asked about his relationship with Hazard, who recently captained Belgium at the Euros.
“Yes, myself and Eden get on very well both on and off the field,” he said.
“It [Euro 2016] was fantastic, it would have been wonderful to go further in the competition but unfortunately we lost against Wales.”
He was also asked about his idol when he was growing up, and he selected former Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Barcelona striker Ronaldo.
“The Brazilian Ronaldo,” he said. “He was a phenomenal player.”
Last season in Ligue 1 Batshuayi scored 17 goals and he was one of the few shining lights for Marseille as they enjoyed a turbulent season both on and off the field.
The forward is the first signing made by Chelsea this summer and the first acquisition since Antonio Conte was appointed as manager.
Chelsea fans will be hoping that they will see more signings made as the club look to bounce back from finishing 10th in the league last term.
