Bayern Munich defender has reportedly played down rumors that he could be leaving the club at the end of the season amid interest from Manchester United.
It is anticipated that the Red Devils will sign a central defender this summer. Though two may be signed subject to what happens to Raphael Varane, Jonny Evans, Victor Lindelof, and Harry Maguire.
Varane and Evans have their contracts expiring at the end of June. And Lindelof and Maguire’s futures are still up in the air. Of the current group of centre-backs, Lisandro Martinez is arguably the only one who can be counted on to play at Old Trafford the following season.
De Ligt has been linked to a move to United. And it’s believed that Bayern are open to talking about the Netherlands international leaving during the summer transfer window.
What Did De Ligt Say About His Future?
According to Sport Mole, De Ligt maintained that he had no plans to move on when asked if he and highly sought after attacker Jamal Musiala could leave Allianz Arena this summer.
“Where to go? On holiday?” De Ligt told reporters while on international duty. “But no, I don’t think so. I hope for us and for Bayern that we’ll both stay. That’s what I’m assuming, too.
“I’m not yet where I want to be with the national team, but that also has to do with injuries. As a player you always want to play.

“We have a lot of good centre-backs. Ultimately, top football is about competing with many good defenders. You have to be there for the matches you get.”
De Ligt began the 2023–24 season on the bench before suffering a knee injury. But he has since worked his way into the starting lineup, making 22 appearances for the Bavaria giants.
