Bayern Munich are reportedly in talks with Ralf Rangnick to succeed Thomas Tuche as manager this summer.
With Xabi Alonso promising to stay at Bayer Leverkusen for at least another campaign. And Julian Nagelsmann extending his contract with the German national team last week. Bayern have already suffered two setbacks in their search for a successor to Tuchel.
Zinedine Zidane has been heavily linked to a switch to Bayern. But the German outfit detached themselves from a move for the 51-year-old over the weekend. Zidane has not managed a team since leaving Real Madrid in May 2021.
According to Sky Germany as reported by The Metro, Brighton and Hove Albion manager, Roberto De Zerbi and Rangnick are on Bayern’s shortlist. The Bundesliga giants already held talks with the former Manchester United interim manager.
According to the report, discussions with Rangnick were “positive” prior to Nagelsmann declining a return to Bayern. And the 65-year-old is “open” to managing in the Bundesliga again.
Rangnick has already accumulated a great deal of managerial experience in the German top division with RB Leipzig, Stuttgart, Hannover 96, Schalke, and Hoffenheim.
He is the head coach of Austria’s national team at the moment. And this summer he will guide his team to the Euro 2024 championship.
Rangnick responded negatively when asked earlier this month if he had spoken with Bayern. Rangnick said: “No. Why should I?

“I feel comfortable here. I still have a contract until 2026 and our goal and our path will continue after the Euros.”
In the meantime, Bayern have thought about going back on their decision to let Tuchel go at the end of the campaign.
