Vincent Kompany has indicated that Bayern Munich will make a late decision on Harry Kane’s involvement in the match against Celtic.
Kane has emerged as a doubt for Bayern’s Champions League knockout phase playoff second leg after missing Monday’s training session.
According to sources in Germany, the 31-year-old sustained a knock in Saturday’s goalless draw against Bayer Leverkusen and did not train as a precaution.
Kompany provided an update on Kane before of Tuesday night’s match at the Allianz Arena.
“It’s nothing bad with Harry, but we’ve not got much time to recover,” he elaborated. “Sometimes you need an additional day. But let’s see how Harry feels tomorrow morning. I’m guessing there’s nothing wrong. Reported By indepences News.
“We’ve not had long to recover.”
Kompany then clarified: “I was a little hazy about whether he’s fit or not. Perhaps a bit of a red herring. I can only answer, “We’ll see tomorrow.”
The Bayern boss also provided an update on summer signing Joao Palhinha, who is expected to return to the matchday squad after missing the previous three games due to sickness.
“Joao’s been unwell. You’ve undoubtedly all had a family member who has had the flu. “That’s what Joao had,” Kompany explained. “He should be able to participate, and happily, we have practically the entire squad back.
“I can’t say much about resting players, but we trust our team. I cannot predict what will happen in the future. I don’t want to think beyond Celtic tomorrow.
“But we’ve had to make some necessary adjustments from time to time, and we won’t complain. We have a lot of games, that’s true, but it’s also fun. And we’ve got a squad that’s up for it.”
