Bayern Munich are reportedly considering a move for Manchester City midfielder, Kalvin Phillips in the summer transfer window.
The Bavaria club sees Phillips as an alternative to West Ham United’s Declan Rice who is looking likely to join Arsenal.
SportBILD claimed the 27-year-old is on Thomas Tuchel’s transfer list as he plans for the club’s future.
According to the newspaper, Tuchel has been granted greater discretion over transfers than past Bayern managers, who were previously solely under the control of a director of football.
Since Bayern are yet to fill that position at the club after Hasan Salihamidzic resigned. Tuchel has stepped up and been given extra authority by the club’s interim Sports Committee.
That indicates that the German is going for individuals he wants, rather than those who are provided to him by his superiors. And Phillips is one of such players.
Rice had been a target for Tuchel. But he has decided against moving to Bavaria and would rather sign with either Arsenal or Manchester City this summer.
Philips is the ‘next alternative’ to his England teammate. And a transfer for the City midfielder is ‘already under discussion’ because Bayern aren’t getting ready in a transfer battle with Arsenal and Man City.

Phillips is listed as Tuchel’s “blueprint for the future” and is an alternative for Rice. Although there is no mention of an asking price or communication with Etihad management at this time.
It’s unclear if Tuchel will be able to close a deal. But the Allianz Arena’s management has given him the authority and gave him the go-ahead.
