Kingsley Coman has suffered an ‘LCL tear in his knee and a capsular tear in his ankle’ which will keep him out for two months, Bayern Munich have confirmed.
On Thursday the 20-year-old had to pull out of the France squad for the World Cup qualifier against Sweden as well as the friendly with Côte d’Ivoire after suffering an injury 24 hours earlier in training, and was replaced by Monaco’s highly-rated Thomas Lemar.
Unfortunately it is no minor injury and Coman will now be missing until the new year, following confirmation from the current Bundesliga leaders and the news will be a big blow to Carlo Ancelotti.
The setback comes at arguably the worst time for the winger as it has been an extremely frustrating season for him thus far, having managed just six league appearances and accumulated just 27 minutes of action in the Champions League this season.
Two of Coman’s six league outings have come off the bench, whilst he is yet to complete an entire 90 minutes having been substituted in the remaining four games under Ancelotti.
Coman joined the Bavarian giants in 2015 on a two-year loan deal from Juventus, which includes an option to keep him permanently for roughly €21 million (£18.6 million).
