Bayern Munich Submit A Bid For The 16-year-old Swedish Sensation

According to SB Nation, When it comes to high-profile acquisitions for its youth teams, Bayern Munich has recently been remarkably silent. The clear exception is Nestory Irankunda, whose departure from Adelaide United has already been confirmed, but even in that case, it’s not difficult to picture the Australian speedster making an instant impact on the starting lineup.

Uncertainty surrounding the role of sporting director has probably contributed to the dearth of talent brought into Munich’s youth setup. But that might be about to change under new sporting director Christoph Freund, as Bayern has made a sizable financial offer for a 16-year-old Swedish wonderkid.

That is, according to reporter Anel Advić of the news site Expressen (picture courtesy of @iMiaSanMia), who reports that Bayern has placed a first bid to AIK Solna for striker Jonah Kusi-Asare that is estimated to be between 3.5 and 4.5 million euros.

That sum of money is substantial, and it may increase even further. After all, Transfermarkt verifies that the gifted striker only recently—two months ago as of this writing—signed a new contract.

The report continues by noting that an agreement is far from certain and that negotiations will take place soon. PSV and Club Brugge are also interested in the same player, but they haven’t placed a bid yet.

Thomas Berntsen, sporting director of AIK, reaffirmed the numerous clubs’ tangible interest: “There are clubs that are concrete.” We’ve stated that we hope to retain [Kusi-Asare] through the summer, but anything can happen if a good offer is received.

However, the purchasing club will need to fork over a sizeable sum of cash. “It has to be an excellent offer. For two or three million euros, he won’t be sold.”
