Gary Lineker stated that he and his fellow BBC analysts were “attacked by big hornets” while covering England’s Euro 2024 match against Serbia on Sunday, June 16.
As the squad went to the pitch, cheered on by WAGs like as Annie Kilner and Kate Goodland, former professional footballer Gary was joined by Micah Richards, Rio Ferdinand, and Cesc Fabregas to present events from the BBC’s studio in Germany.
While the Three Lions thrilled fans on the football with a 1-0 victory over Serbia, things were less easy in the studio, where the broadcasters were approached by some unwanted bug guests.
As he presented the second half of the game, 63-year-old Gary said, “The second half, we’re looking forward to it. “We’ve been attacked by large hornets flying around.”
The memorable incident occurred after the England WAGs reportedly sent words of support to the players in honor of Father’s Day and the squad’s first Euro 2024 match of the competition.
According to the Mirror, the group recorded several recordings of their youngsters wearing England kits, with the lovely video intended to boost Gareth Southgate’s side for the tournament in Germany.
“The players know that they will have dozens of wives, girlfriends, parents and siblings in the stands,” a source told the publication. “It is the first place they look to when they walk out of the tunnel. It is a crucial part of the support network for Gareth Southgate behind the scenes.”
