Bellingham Pips Haaland, Messi To Clinch Award Following Champions League Victory

Real Madrid midfielder, Jude Bellingham has been named the world’s best footballer in the latest Top Trumps’ rankings.

In the latest version of the well-liked card game, Bellingham defeated players such as Erling Haaland and Lionel Messi to take the top spot, fresh off his Champions League triumph at Wembley last weekend.

The top 200 football players worldwide, both men and women, are ranked by ‘World Football Stars Top 200.’

With important categories evaluating each player based on their age, goals, trophies, height, and caps, the first release is scheduled to come out in June.

“Jude Bellingham ranks #1 based on his extraordinary talent, versatility on the field, and the remarkable impact he has made on the game at such a young age,” a Top Trumps spokesperson said as reported by The Metro.

“Not only is he highly valued in terms of his market worth, but his ability to dominate the midfield, coupled with his leadership qualities and consistent performance in top-tier competitions, makes him an inspiration and solidifies his place at the No 1 spot.”

Bellingham is hoping to add one more trophy to his impressive collection at the European Championship in Germany this summer.

Needing to recover quickly from the Wembley final on Saturday, the 20-year-old was not involved in England’s victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina in their first pre-tournament friendly.

The midfield star, though, will be hoping to make a comeback to Gareth Southgate’s starting lineup for Friday’s second warm-up match against Iceland.
