Benfica sign Super Eagles right-back Tyronne Ebuehi in five-year deal

Portuguese football giants Benfica have announced the signing of ADO Den Haag Dutch-Nigerian defender Tyronne Ebuehi on a free transfer following the expiration of his deal with the Dutch side.

The club also confirmed that the 22-year-old signed a contract till 2023 and he is expected to immediately push for a starting spot in the first team of the club.

Benfica will be competing in next season UEFA Champions League after their second place finish in the league last year. Ebuehi is also expected to take part in the tournament which will no doubt confirm his rising profile particularly the past 18 months.

He moved from a player ADO Den Haag were not truly convinced about into a refined international defender for Nigeria that the club were eager to tie to an extended contract before the recent expiration of his deal.

Expected to be a part of the Nigerian team to the World Cup in Russia, Ebuehi is heavily tipped to dislodge Shehu Abdullahi as the right back of the Super Eagles at the World Cup.
