After a string of impressive performances for Italy at Euro 2024, Riccardo Calafiori became Arsenal first summer acquisition.
The 22-year-old, who cost over £42 million plus add-ons, has already proven his class at his new team by scoring an incredible goal in the Premier League against Manchester City.
The Italian has mostly played left back for Mikel Arteta because Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba are manning the center-half positions.
Following this, Darren Bent has given his assessment on Calafiori’s success as an Arsenal acquisition thus far.
Due to his technical soundness and exceptional athleticism, the former Bologna player can play a variety of positions across the defense and, when necessary, drive into midfield.
According to TBR Football, Bent sat down to rate some of the Premier League’s summer acquisitions and praised Calafiori’s versatility, calling him a “hit” for Arsenal.
“When he has played for Arsenal, he has been brilliant,” said Bent on talkSPORT.
“Yeah, he has. Defensively, one-v-one battles, can play left side of centre-half, can play left-back, comfortable in possession. And he was good against PSG as well. He is a monster.”

Since Oleksandr Zinchenko is too unreliable defensively and players like Kieran Tierney and Takehiro Tomiyasu are injured, Calafiori has swiftly established himself as Arsenal’s starting left-back.
The 22-year-old’s abilities have already won over Arsenal supporters, and the team greatly benefit from his versatility.
