Dimitar Berbatov wants a Premier League comeback and he is hoping a return to Manchester United can help him achieve his aim.
The Bulgaria veteran – who played for the Reds between 2008 and 2012 – is a free agent after leaving Greek club PAOK in the summer.
He is keen to return to the English top flight – where he also played for Tottenham and Fulham – and is not ready to quit football despite the fact he will turn 36 in January.
Bulgarian news outlet Sportal report that Berbatov will visit Carrington next week to train with Jose Mourinho ‘s squad for a few days in a bid to prepare himself for any potential Premier League interest.
“When you’ve played in the Premier League you don’t want to play anywhere else,” Berbatov told the BBC last month.
“In this stage of my career I know where I am – I would happily play for a team where they use my experience and my knowledge. I can help young players develop and make the team stronger. In the end it’s all about helping the team play.”
Berbatov scored 48 goals in 108 games for United.
