Berrettini welcomes underdog tag

Matteo Berrettini has no issue with being rated as the underdog ahead of the ATP World Tour Finals. The Italian managed to reach a career-high eighth in the ATP rankings and earned a place in the season-ending showpiece as a result. The 23-year-old has been drawn in the Bjorn Borg Group with Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Dominic Thiem and is well aware he will be expected to fall at the first hurdle. However, Berrettini insists he isn’t heading to London simply to make up the numbers. “I want to take good advantage of these days and I have to prepare myself and arrive in the best possible way,” said Berrettini, as reported by The Express. “I know that I am not a favourite but I am very motivated to do well and give it all. “For months I could not even dream of qualifying so I did not give up anything now.”
