“We didn’t take our chances,“ said the Arsenal boss. “I haven’t seen any other team in the first six months (of the season) generate as much as we have against Liverpool in the last two games, but we are not capitalising. The last few games, performance and merit wise there’s no questions.

“When my team plays with that attitude against probably the best team in Europe at the moment in terms of momentum, what can I do? I have to stick behind them and support them.
“It’s frustrating but what can we do. I can’t tell them to play bad and don’t shoot and Liverpool will score an own goal and we win the game. I don’t know how to create a gameplan like that, it’s impossible.”
But Arteta said: “The supporters are behind the team and in difficult moments they are incredibly good. They are important and supportive.
“It’s a difficult moment but if the team is getting hammered and not playing well and not deserving to win then I’d be much more worried. I am worried as we have to win more games and that’s a thing we have to change.
