Sheffield United will reportedly renew their interest in Real Betis striker Loren Moron during the January transfer window. The Blades have made a superb return to the Premier League and currently sit fifth after 12 games of the campaign.
Chris Wilder has assembled a hard-working group of players and coached them into a side that know exactly what they are doing.
That has resulted in just nine top-flight goals conceded to date, with only Leicester City’s eight bettering that number.
However, it is at the other end of the pitch that things could improve, with the South Yorkshire outfit netting on just 13 occasions – 22 fewer than the team directly above them in the table, Manchester City.
Wilder is not the sort of manager to rest on his laurels and a reports by Grada 3 claim he has sent scouts to monitor the 25-year-old Spaniard Loren in recent times.
They were said to be keen over the summer and it is not surprising that the interest is still there, with the Marbella-born hitman having scored eight goals from 12 La Liga appearances this term.
Loren was also prolific for the Betis reserve team, netting 43 times from 92 outings and it seems inevitable that he will move on at some stage of his career.
The report in Spain suggests United will “come with great force” in the new year to try and land their target.
It was said that the Premier League newcomers made a club-record £22.5m bid for the forward in the summer that fell short of his £34million release clause.
If the Spaniards are unwilling to budge on that figure, then the Blades’ money men will have to dig deep into the coffers if they are to land their man.
Betis are just one place above the Spanish top-flight relegation zone and look set for a season-long battle with the drop, and it might be that joining a club at the other end of the standings overseas – like the Blades – might appeal.
