Blades only at the start of Premier League journey – Wilder

Chris Wilder says he expects Sheffield United to continue to improve as the season goes on, believing the best is yet to come from his players. The South Yorkshire outfit have made a very smooth adaptation to life in the top flight and are currently sat in eighth place in the table after 10 games.
The Blades have yet to be beaten away from home, rescuing a point away at West Ham United last weekend, while they have claimed the scalp of Arsenal on home soil.
Having started the season as one of the favourites for relegation, Wilder’s men look like they have what it takes to hang around in the Premier League and are currently ranked highest of the newly-promoted sides.
The former Oxford United and Northampton boss is keen to remind people that this was a League One side when he took charge in May, 2016, claiming that should be kept in mind when judging his squad.
With many of his players getting their first taste of top flight football this season, the 52-year-old says the first three months of the campaign have been a learning experience for many and expects those new to the division to improve as the year moves on. “We wouldn’t have got the results we have if we hadn’t adapted well in certain situations but we are looking to improve – to improve the players individually and to improve as a group,” said Wilder, ahead if Saturday’s encounter with Burnley. “There’s still a long way to go and our feet are on the ground but we are delighted with the start we’ve made, but as I’ve said before it is only a start and the challenge is to continue and be consistent in performances.”
Wilder went on to say that he would hand a couple of his squad late fitness tests ahead of Saturday’s encounter, although refused to reveal who is struggling going into the clash against Burnley.
