Bologna believe in Zlatan and want to “make madness happen”

As Bologna vie with AC Milan for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, sporting director Walter Sabatini says the Rossoblu will do everything to “make this madness happen”. Zlatan is weighing up his next adventure after ending his two-year stint with Los Angeles Galaxy in Major League Soccer.
The 38-year-old enjoyed a fine 2019 campaign, netting 31 goals to finish just behind Carlos Vela in the regular-season goal charts.
The much-travelled forward, who has had spells in Sweden, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, France and England, is understood to be seeking a fresh challenge.
AC Milan are keen to get him back to the San Siro, with Rossoneri fans fondly remembering his spell there from 2010-2012 when, in 85 games, the striker scored 56 goals and provided 24 assists.
That was prime Zlatan, however, and Milan technical director Paolo Maldini recently admitted he felt the Swede harboured concerns that he would not be able to fulfil expectations if he went back.
But Bologna have emerged as surprise contenders in recent days, with sports chief Sabatini believing anything is possible. “Ibrahimovic wants to come to us because of the relationship he has with Sinisa [Mihajlovic, Bologna’s coach],” he explained to reporters following Bologna’s 2-1 defeat to Inter on Saturday. “It is not impossible, it can be done and if it should happen it would be a matter of affection between them. Ibra would like to help Mihajlovic. I can say that we will do everything to make this madness happen.”
There is still a good chance Ibrahimovic will line up in MLS again in 2020, with LA Galaxy general manager Dennis te Kloese telling reporters this week that they would have a conversation about his future once things have “calmed down post-season”.
