Former New Zealand paceman Shane Bond says he would be interested in becoming England’s next permanent fast bowling coach. The 44-year-old is temporarily overseeing the same role for the Black Caps during their ongoing Twenty20 series with England, stepping in for Shane Jurgensen, who is currently taking a break from the role. Bond previously worked as New Zealand’s bowling coach for two and a half years until the 2015 World Cup, while he also acted as a consultant for England during the first two Tests of their 2017-18 Ashes series. A return to full-time coaching certainly appears to be on the cards for Bond, who is seemingly more interested in linking up with England again then working on a permanent basis with the country he represented in all three formats of the game as a player. Asked whether he would be keen to take charge of England’s fast bowlers, Bond said: “Yes, definitely. “I know all the English guys, I caught up with them in Christchurch when they came down for their pre-season tournament. I really enjoyed being with the team and liked the guys.” England are yet to name a new fast bowling coach following the appointment Chris Silverwood as head coach, although Darren Gough will work as a consultant in the build-up to the upcoming Test series with New Zealand.
