Bowen giving little away amid Newcastle speculation

Jarrod Bowen has remained coy over his Hull City future following reports Premier League outfit Newcastle United are lining up a January move. Bowen has been Hull’s star over the past couple of seasons, having scored 14 goals from 42 Championship appearances during the 2016/17 campaign before notching 22 league strikes from 46 matches last term.
The Englishman was named in the 2018-19 Championship Team of the Season and there were strong reports linking him with a move away from the KCOM Stadium during the summer transfer window.
Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino was said to be eager to acquire the forward’s services, but the Argentine opted against a move and signed Leeds United’s Jack Clarke instead.
Bowen’s current contract expires in the summer of 2020 although the club does have the option to extend his stay by another 12 months, something they are expected to enforce.
This potential extension may not be enough to keep the 22-year-old in East Yorkshire amid reports Newcastle, who are sitting 18th in the Premier League, are preparing a January bid.
Steve Bruce is eager to add more firepower to his squad as the Magpies have only netted five league goals this season, leaving them alongside rock-bottom Watford as joint-lowest scorers.
Club-record signing Joelinton, who cost £40million from Hoffenheim, has only scored one goal while fellow summer arrival Andy Carroll, who is in his second stint at St James’ Park, is yet to hit the back of the net.
Bruce, who has struggled to win over fans since replacing Rafael Benitez in the summer, recently said he is cautious about spending in January but he could be able to snap up the Hull star on a cut-price deal.
Bowen was quizzed about his future at Hull and he seemed relaxed about his current plans, saying he is happy with whatever happens over the next few months. “If I leave, I leave, if I don’t, I am loving it here,” he told the Hull Daily Mail. “What will be, will be. I have just got to keep my head down, I have got agents that take care of all of that.”
Bowen, who has scored five goals this season, is expected to start Wednesday’s trip to Nottingham Forest and maintain his record of playing every single minute of Championship action this season.
The Tigers have lost their last two matches, going down 3-0 at Huddersfield Town before being edged out 3-2 at home to Queens Park Rangers.
