A Mexican youngster has taken the next step towards emulating his namesakes
Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane after being called up to his country’s Under 15
squad.
Ronaldo Zinedin Hernandez, who plays in Santos Laguna’s academy, was named after the Real Madrid greats by his football-mad parents.
And after impressing for his club side, the teenager will now have a chance to shine at international level when Mexico’s Under 15s get together for a training camp.

Hernandez’s mother, Nancy Rodriguez, explained why she and her husband decided to name their son after the duo who helped Real to the La Liga title in 2003.
‘It’s obvious to say they’re two huge stars of soccer,’ she told MedioTiempo last year.
‘My husband and I were big fans of Ronaldo and of Zidane, because of this when he was in the womb he moved a lot and I said to my husband that he was going to be like those two players.
‘At first, we didn’t agree, because my husband is more a fan of Ronaldo and I’m a bigger fan of Zinedine, so we decided to give him both names.’
Ronaldo linked up with Zidane, who is now Los Blancos manager, at the Bernabeu in the summer of 2002, with the pair winning the Spanish title and the Spanish Super Cup in their first season together.
