Fin Bartels is yet to make an appearance this season but the Werder Bremen midfielder hopes to be back in action soon. Bartels is sidelined with a knee injury and hasn’t played a competitive game since March as he missed the end of last term with a hamstring problem.
The 32-year-old is back in training, though, and hopes he will be available again soon.
Bartels has been working with fellow knee injury victim Ludwig Augustinsson on the training pitch.
The defender is also yet to feature this season for Bremen but Bartels says he is even closer to making a return for the Bundesliga outfit. “I’m fine. I’ve been training with Ludde a lot recently. He’s a bit further along than me at the moment, but I’m on the right path,” Bartels told the club website. “I hope that I can be back on the pitch with the lads soon.”
Bremen are unlikely to take any risks with Bartels when he is available for selection as he missed the majority of last season with an ACL injury and then managed just two Bundesliga appearances before his campaign was ended by the hamstring issue, with both of those outings as a substitute.
Sweden international Augustinsson featured in every Bundesliga game for Bremen last term and will be pushing for a starting spot when he is fit.
Christian Gross is also an injury absentee for Bremen at present and he has been training on his own as he bids to recover from muscular issues.
