The Leandro Trossard situation has been “difficult,” according to Brighton boss, Roberto De Zerbi, who does, however, comprehend his desire to join Arsenal.
The 28-year-old’s time with the Albion is drawing to a close as he is set to seal a Ā£27million move to the Gunners on Friday.
The Belgian international scored 25 goals and bagged 14 assists in 121 appearances for the Seagulls but this chapter of his career is about to end.
After returning from the 2022 World Cup in December, where Belgium was eliminated in the group stages, De Zerbi was unimpressed with Trossard’s attitude, effort level, and behavior and dropped him from the team him for the matches against Middlesbrough and Liverpool earlier this month.
Despite leaving him out of those matchday squads, the Italian said the former Genk star, who signed for the Sussex side for Ā£15million in 2019, had a chance to work his way back into the fold.
However, with the help of his agent Josy Comhair, Trossard will now make the switch to the Emirates.

On Friday morning, the 43-year-old gave his thoughts on this turn of events and lamented that it had come to this. But he said Brighton will be able to cope without Trossard, just as they have shown in their 4-1, 5-1, and 3-0 wins over Everton, Boro, and Liverpool respectively.
