Manchester United star, Bruno Fernandes, has admitted that the unusual 7 o’clock kickoff against Everton on Sunday will give the Reds more time to recuperate following their Europa League match against Omonia Nicosia on Thursday.
Due to a logistical difficulty, United’s Premier League match against Everton will kick off at 7 p.m. on Sunday night instead of at the customary kick-off times reserved for Sundays.
The game was initially selected by BT Sport as their Saturday lunchtime match.
However, the Red Devils will be playing in the Europa League on Thursday and won’t be able to play until at least Sunday.
Sky Sports already had two live games scheduled on Sunday afternoon (Arsenal vs. Leeds at 4:30pm and Crystal Palace vs. Leeds at 2pm).
Therefore, the match between United and the Toffees was shifted to 7pm so it could be broadcast live.
Why Did Fernandes Say?
Although neither club’s fans are happy with the kickoff time, Portuguese international Fernandes claims that it will actually aid in his and his teammates’ recovery from their long trip to Cyprus.
When asked if the game’s postponement was a good thing, Fernandes responded to club media: “Yes. Because normally in the last few years, we wouldn’t have had that much time to recover and they’d normally make us play at 12:30!

“Now we will have that time to recover to go to Everton. But the focus for now is on the next game in the Europa League.”
On Thursday night against Omonia, Erik ten Hag’s team will be attempting to pick up their second victory in Europe.
The Reds have already lost to Real Sociedad and defeated FC Sheriff this season.
