Bukayo Saka Reveals Injury Break Was ‘Really Good Mentally’ For Him

Bukayo Saka, 23-year-old England forward, had to have surgery after suffering a hamstring injury during the Gunners’ 5-1 victory against Crystal Palace on December 21.

This was the first major absence in his career.

Prior to making another appearance as a substitute in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Everton, he scored in Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over Fulham last week.

Saka stated, “Mentally, it was really good for me,” just before the first leg of Arsenal’s quarterfinal Champions League matchup against Real Madrid.

“Obviously, it was tough initially when I found out the extent of my injury and that I was going to have surgery, but once that was done, and it was successful, I was just focused on coming back stronger,” Saka said.

Saka stated that he was in “no rush” to sign a new contract but acknowledged that it was “pretty clear” that he wants to dedicate his future to the team.

The winger, who will make his first start since December against Real at the Emirates on Tuesday, has two years left on his current contract.

He was greeted with a hero’s welcome in the second half against Fulham, capping off his extended absence, reports France 24.
