Defender Dan Burn believes Brighton are in a false position in the Premier League and have not always got the results their performances have deserved. The Seagulls are 14th in the top flight after managing three wins, three draws and four defeats from their first 10 games. They will hope to claim another three points when they host Norwich City on Saturday.
The highlight of the campaign so far was the 3-0 home success over Tottenham on October 5 when Brighton deservedly saw off last season’s Champions League finalists.
Last weekend Graham Potter’s side overcame Everton 3-2 at the Amex, their second successive home win, and Burn knows winning regularly in front of their own fans will be key if they are to stay clear of trouble this season. “Home form is going to be massive this year and we’re pleased with our last two victories at the Amex,” he said. “The away games are always tough and we have a tough few games on the road in the near future, so this weekend is another good opportunity to get some points on the board with the fans behind us.”
Burn has been an ever-present in the top flight this term after failing to make a league appearance under Potter’s predecessor, Chris Hughton.
He insists they should be higher in the table as good performances have not always gone hand-in-hand with positive results.
He added: “We’ve been saying it all season but we have played really well in some matches and there’s only a few matches where you can say that teams have been better than us.”
Following the Norwich clash this weekend, the Seagulls face a difficult run of fixtures as they go to Manchester United on November 10, host Leicester on November 23 before trips to Liverpool (November 30) and Arsenal (December 5).
