Set to unleash Nwaiwu on newly-promoted side…
In an effort to prepare well for their proposed England trip for youth football tournaments, Buruj Sports Academy will on Wednesday morning at the Ijebu Ode Stadium engage Premier League newcomers Remo Stars Football Club in a friendly match.
As a sign of the importance attached to the game, Buruj Academy intend to feature Nwaiwu Stephen Onyekachi against the Kunle Soname boys. Nwaiwu, who previously featured for Ifeanyi Ubah FC and Ikorodu United is expected to bring his wealth of Premier League experience to bear on the game.
According to the Managing Director of Buruj Academy, Waheed Salaudeen, the friendly match will help his coaches to know the level of preparedness of his players for the series of engagements ahead of them and playing Remo Stars will be a true test of character and measure reaction when faced by more experienced opposition.
“Remo is a good side with quality players which they have demonstrated through their performance last season which also earned them a promotion ticket , so playing a team of that standard will be good for my boys,” Salaudeen said.
The match is also expected to serve as a perfect dress-rehearsal for Buruj Academy which has lined up a series of international tournaments in the United Kingdom.
“We are preparing well for the tournament we are going to play in England and we need games like this to test the players as well. The coaches are working really hard and we are happy about that “, he added.
It would be recalled that the Ikorodu based outfit last week played a friendly match with a Lagos selected side which ended goalless.
