Carragher Responds To Guardiola’s Brutal Liverpool Point With Man City Dig

Former Liverpool defender, Jamie Carragher has taken offense at remarks made by Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola regarding him and other pundits Micah Richards and Gary Neville.

After Sunday’s late draw with Tottenham Hotspur, the Sky sports pundits were thought to have been critical of City for not making the game conclusive. Neville further charged that the Premier League champions were being complacent. And Carragher suggested that the stadium had become “flat” as a result of their success.

Guardiola addressed the critics for six minutes on Tuesday during a remarkable press conference.

He said: “I don’t have anything to say about the pundits, honestly. It’s not about that [complacency]. Maybe I’m wrong but I don’t think it’s about complacency.

“He knows how difficult it is otherwise Gary Neville would’ve won four Premier Leagues in the best period of Manchester United. But he didn’t do it, you know?”

Guardiola then added: “Jamie Carragher didn’t win one [Premier League title] once. Micah Richards didn’t win four Premier Leagues in a row. Never, ever. It’s never happened. There is more chance of it not happening than happening.

According to Manchester Evening News, Carragher went after City’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) allegations and defended his record at Liverpool following the publication of Guardiola’s response to the critics.

“I think I’d have probably won one if Liverpool were owned by a nation state, and pushed the rules so far that the Premier League charged us 115 times,” he wrote on X.

“I was actually praising Pep’s team after the game on Sunday.” The Blues have allegedly breached 115 FFP rules on profit and sustainability however they await a trial to answer the charges.
