Petr Cech admits Arsenal’s defenders failed him in the 2-0 defeat to Tottenham.
A quick-fire double from Dele Alli and Harry Kane in the second half handed Spurs the victory which confirms that they will finish above their north London rivals in the Premier League for the first time since 1995.
In the build up to Alli’s opener, Cech was forced to parry a close-range effort from Christian Eriksen before Alli reacted quicker than three other Arsenal defenders who were in close proximity.
And the Arsenal goalkeeper admits he felt his defenders would deal with the situation following his save from Eriksen.
Speaking about Alli’s opening goal for Tottenham, Cech told Sky Sports: ‘When I saved the ball from Eriksen I saw the ball going away and I thought we were safe but then it ended in the back of the net.
‘The first goal was the decisive one, then we gave another goal away quickly and then they were in the driving seat.
‘We need to win the remaining games and hope that some of the others slip up. It is clear for us now.’
